PALO PINTO – Palo Pinto County Commissioners on Tuesday approved the 2011 audit of the Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District, the entity which collects taxes and distributes funds to the county’s 11 volunteer fire departments.
PPCESD Treasurer Carl Blacksten, who also serves as Possum Kingdom West VFD secretary/treasurer, presented the audit, performed by Edgin, Parkman, Fleming and Fleming PC, for the year ending Dec. 31, 2011. While the financials “presented fairly” and “with no material weaknesses,” Blacksten said they received a “hickey” from the auditing firm by not amending the budget as necessary “to ensure that expenditures do not exceed appropriate amounts.”
