Raising the roof

Downtown fire station renovation to accommodate new engine

By CHRIS AGEE | cagee@mineralwellsindex.com

To accommodate a recently acquired new engine, construction crews are working to raise the roof of the city’s downtown Fire Station No. 1.

According to Mineral Wells Fire Chief Robin Allen, the department is currently housing the new truck at the No. 2 station.

“We’re trying to have a newer engine at each place,” she said.

Allen explained the department’s second-newest acquisition, a Quint 2 ladder truck, will remain at the Industrial Parkway station after the new engine moves to its downtown home.

When completed, she said the No. 1 station will feature 12-foot doors, which is the same height as the No. 2 station.
