Jack County Sheriffs Posse Queen/Princess Roundup

Jack County Sheriffs Posse Queen/Princess Roundup

By PAM HUDSON

Pull on those cowgirl boots, jeans and your best duds because it is time to select a Jack County Rodeo Queen. This is the first year the Jack County Sheriffs Posse will choose a Rodeo Princess, also.

March 17 is the important day to dress up and go to the Rodeo arena from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Queen and Princess will be chosen from girls who reside in Jack County and all adjoining counties. The Queen must be 14-21 and the Princess must be 6-13 years old at the time of entry. Judging will be based on an interview, appearance and ticket sales. Sign-up day will include dinner, photos, and explanation of contest rules and dates. Attire should include boots, hat, long sleeved collared shirt and some form of blue jeans.

A horsemanship scholarship is offered this year for any girls 14-19 years old and you don’t have to run for queen to qualify. There is a $25 entry fee.

Girls will compete in a riding contest and will unbuckle and rebuckle saddle in the correct order. They may register for the scholarship on March 17, at the same time as the queen and princess candidates.
