The Texas Lottery website confirmed a Mineral Wells retailer sold a winning Texas Two Step ticket Monday worth $650,000.
According to the site, a quick pick ticket matching all five numbers, including a bonus ball, was purchased at the Mr. C Food Store #7, located at 3615 U.S. Highway 180 East.
The winner, who requested not to be identified, spoke to the Index, confirmed the purchase, adding the money will be put to good use and invested intelligently.
A spokesperson for the convenience store chain said rumors began circulating in the community about the winning ticket before the sale had been confirmed.
Retailers do receive an incentive for selling winning tickets, though it is unclear at this point how much the Mr. C location will get.
"We've never had a big, big winner, so I don't know," the source said. "It will probably be a month or two before we even know."
The lottery website indicates all prizes in the Texas Two Step are paid out in one lump sum.
