Thefts and other mischief afoot

By CHRIS AGEE

A retailer in the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 180 East recently reported three thefts, according to Mineral Wells police reports.

Each of the reports were filed Jan. 18 and all involved customers who rented an item and made no subsequent attempts to pay, police said.

Reports show two of the stolen items were laptops, valued at $1,200 and $959, respectively, and a third theft involved a high-definition television valued at $1,100.

Police also received several other property crime reports over the past several days, including the burglary of a vehicle in the 1300 block of S.E. 14th Avenue Jan. 18.

According to reports, someone entered the complainant's vehicle and removed a purse, backpack and about $20 in cash.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry and the complainant did not recall if the vehicle's doors were locked.

A garage door in the 600 block of Davy Crockett Avenue was damaged during a burglary Monday, according to police reports.

Police said an unknown subject kicked in the door, causing significant damage, though the only item the complainant noticed missing from inside the residence was a bottle of cologne.

According to a witness report filed Sunday, someone in a vehicle traveling in the 400 block of Country Club Parkway discharged between four and five rounds of ammunition into the air.

The report did not include specific identifying details of the vehicle or individual involved.
