Mineral Wells police received a hit-and-run report Friday in the 4500 block of U.S. Highway 180 East.
According to the report, a male driving a white sedan backed into the complainant’s vehicle, causing damage.
The white sedan reportedly fled the scene, though officers located the vehicle and its driver a short time later.
Austin Ray Towles, 22, of Mineral Wells, was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash and additional local warrants.
Man assaults, robs another over debt
Police received a robbery report June 27 in the 600 block of N.E. 11th Street.
According to the complainant, a male approached him demanding money he said he was owed. The suspect then reportedly hit the complainant with a closed fist, took his wallet, and fled the scene in a black pickup truck.
MWPD reports several property crimes
According to Mineral Wells police, a number of property crimes were reported over the past weekend, including several vehicle burglaries.
Burglaries
• Police received a vehicle burglary report June 27 in the 2000 block of N.W. 5th Avenue. According to the complainant, someone entered two vehicles at the location and removed cash and camera equipment.
• A vehicle’s ignition key was reportedly taken in a vehicle burglary reported June 27 in the 800 block of N.W. 11th Street.
• Another vehicle burglary report filed June 27 in the 800 block of N.W. 11th Street indicates someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took an MP3 player.
• According to a vehicle burglary report filed June 27 in the 800 block of Lakeview Drive, someone entered an unlocked vehicle at the residence and removed loose change and a pair of sunglasses.
• Unspecified jewelry was taken during the burglary of an unlocked vehicle in the 1900 block of N.W. 4th Avenue, according to a report filed June 27.
• Police received a vehicle burglary report June 27 in the 2100 block of N.W. 3rd Avenue. According to the complainant, someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took loose change and a global positioning device.
• Loose change was taken during the burglary of a vehicle in the 800 block of N.E. 11th Street, according to a report filed June 27.
• The complainant in a burglary report filed June 28 in the 1300 block of N.W. 1st Avenue reported returning home to find the front door open. Upon entering the residence, reports indicate the complainant determined a purse containing a small amount of cash and bank cards was missing.
• According to a vehicle burglary report filed Friday in the 2800 block of N.E. 2nd Street, someone entered the unlocked vehicle and removed a global positioning device.
Criminal mischiefs
• A known white male reportedly threw a rock at a vehicle parked in the 100 block of S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, according to a criminal mischief report filed Friday.
• According to a criminal mischief report filed Friday, several windows were broken out of an unoccupied house in the 1200 block of S.E. 11th Street.
• Police received a criminal mischief report Friday in the 4200 block of N.E. 40th Street. The complainant reported an acquaintance damaged a vehicle at the residence with a golf club.
• A criminal mischief report filed Sunday in the 1600 block of Crestwood Drive indicates a vehicle was damaged when someone threw eggs at it.
• A vehicle parked in the 500 block of West Hubbard Street was egged, according to a criminal mischief report filed Sunday.
• The rear doors of a business in the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 180 East were reportedly spray painted, according to a criminal mischief report filed Sunday. Reports indicate further investigation showed several vehicles in the area had also been spray painted.
Hit-and-run
• A hit-and-run report filed Friday in the 200 block of South Oak Avenue indicates the complainant’s vehicle was hit by another vehicle, which left the scene without stopping.
