Mineral Wells volunteer firefighters responded to a vehicle fire early Saturday morning in the 3500 block of U.S. Highway 281 South.
Reports indicate the fire started around 5:38 a.m. and responding crews discovered the flames had engulfed a storage building and spread to an adjacent business.
“When the call originally came in, it was confined to the truck,” said Carey McAliley, who is assisting Palo Pinto County Fire Marshal Buddy Harwell in the investigation. “Then it spread from the truck to the outbuilding to the store itself.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, McAliley said, adding the truck and outbuilding were completely destroyed.
“There was no damage to the inside of the store but it sustained damage to the outside,” he said.
He said the truck, a Ford F250, was a company vehicle often parked at the location when not in use.
Despite damage to the exterior of the business, McAliley said employees did not miss any work because of the fire.
“We were able to restore electricity so they didn’t lose any downtime,” he said.
