It’s holiday swing time at Clark Gardens Botanical Park.
Put on your dancing shoes and join Clark Gardens this Saturday, 7-10 p.m., for its first annual USO-themed celebration.
Dance the night away in the garden’s climate-controlled tent while enjoying big band music of the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s performed by Pearl Street Four. This powerhouse quartet from Granbury performs music from all eras.
“This family-friendly event recognizes the area’s deep military roots,” said Director Carol Clark Montgomery. “As so many of our friends and neighbors came to the area through Fort Wolters or even Camp Wolters, it seems appropriate to celebrate the season with a USO-themed event.”
Guests are invited to wear military uniforms or vintage attire. Music and dancing goes from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and holiday lights are on view in the gardens from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Reservations are recommended. There will be a light supper catered by the Clark Garden’s Canteen staff with non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Guests to the event may bring their own alcoholic beverages.
Fees for Saturday’s USO event are: $25 per adult; $20 for children ages 5 to 12; and $15 for children ages 4 and younger. The price includes admission to the park and the supper.
In addition to live music, food and dancing, Saturday evening’s guests can stroll through the park to enjoy its beautiful holiday décor, including thousands of twinkling lights that illuminate the garden paths.
