An investigation continued Thursday into the cause of a structure fire in the 100 block of S.W. 25th Street, which began around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday.
“It’s going to be an accidental cause,” said Mineral Wells Fire Marshal Joel Thompson.
He explained Thursday morning he was in the process of investigating the incident further during daylight hours.
Mineral Wells paid and volunteer firefighters responded to the call, Thompson said, and were able to contain major damage to one room, though the rest of the house was damaged by smoke.
“There were two occupants at home at the time of the fire,” he said, adding one individual “stated to me they were both watching TV in a separate room and heard the alarm.”
