The investigation continues after a pair of brothers were arrested Tuesday night for assaulting a Salesville area resident.
Palo Pinto County Sheriff Ira Mercer confirmed the arrests of Robert Eugene Kincaid, 31, of Whitt, and Michael Lynn Kincaid, 26, of Perrin, on charges of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
According to officials, the assault occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the Salesville area. The Kincaid brothers reportedly went to the residence where the homeowner came out “brandishing a gun.” The firearm was described as a small caliber handgun.
Authorities reported that the homeowner and the Kincaids wrestled over possession of the firearm; it reportedly fired once but didn’t hit anyone.
The victim, 33, was allegedly beaten with beer bottles, according to authorities. He was flown by air ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Kincaids and the victim had a domestic history, according to authorities.
Officials confirmed the victim’s family was notified but declined to give the man’s name. They said Wednesday that he is in the hospital in stable condition.
The Kincaid brothers were arrested Tuesday evening at another residence in the Salesville area and authorities said the two men were “very cooperative” with authorities. Both posted $50,000 surety bonds Wednesday at approximately 1:45 p.m.
Mercer added that the case is still under investigation.
