Carter Road home damaged by fire

Mineral Wells firefighters responded to a house fire at approximately 10:50 a.m. Monday in the 900 block of Carter Road.

Fire officials reported that the one-story wooden structure showed flames approximately two to three minutes after their arrival. The flames began in the kitchen, ignited by an electrical short on an appliance, officials said. It reportedly smoldered a long time before crawling up an inside wall.

There was 100 percent smoke damage to the structure and 30 percent structure damage, estimated fire officials. They used an estimated 2,000 gallons to extinguish the fire.

No one was home at the time the blaze ignited and no injuries were reported. The scene was cleared at approximately 1:15 p.m.



Crack-carrying cyclist

At 12:41 a.m. Sunday, Mineral Wells police stopped Mineral Wells resident Timothy Smith, 45, on his bicycle at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Street and S.E. 2nd Avenue.

Officers reportedly observed Smith reach into his pocket and drop a piece of paper on the ground. The paper reportedly contained one rock of crack cocaine, officials said. Smith was arrested for possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.



Domestic disturbance leads to three charges

Mineral Wells police responded Sunday evening at 11:41 p.m. to a domestic disturbance call in the 500 block of S.W. 18th Street.

According to police reports, a woman alleged that Michael Dwayne Sparks, 38, of Mineral Wells, assaulted her daughter. She reported that Sparks showed up at the residence and refused to leave. When her daughter allegedly tried to leave, Sparks reportedly held the daughter down and punched her.

Sparks was arrested for assault-family violence and unlawful restraint. Officials reported that subsequent to his arrest, officers found three Xanax capsules, one Soma tablet and one Doxycycline tablet. The three medications were all prescription drugs, but officials said he didn't have a prescription. He was also charged with possession of a dangerous drug.



Burglary

• 1500 block of S.E. 11th Avenue - A home was reported burglarized Saturday with entry made through a rear window. Valued at $1,725, 115 DVDs were reported stolen.



Arrests

The Mineral Wells Police reported making the following arrests:

• Jacinto Lopez Carbajal, 40, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday for public intoxication.

• Daniel Guy Ewing, 45, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday for disorderly conduct.

• Billy John Gann, 27, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday for failure to stop.

• Clarence Earl Hall, 45, of Fort Worth, was arrested Friday for simple assault.

• Erlene Gayle Lee, 46, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday for simple assault.

• Boyd Vincent Riddle, 47, of Keller, was arrested Friday for driving with a suspended license.

• John Randall Rowan, 43, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on a Parker County warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child and a Parker County warrant for indecency with a child.

• Hollie Denise Slone, 26, of Strawn, was arrested Friday for no insurance.

• Larry Alan Waddle Jr., 28, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday on a Parker County warrant for theft greater than $1,500 and less than $20,000.
