HOUSTON - Two sisters from Mineral Wells will be vying for the crown of Miss Texas USA.
The Crystal Group, Inc., producers of the pageant, announced the selection of Tavisty Tarkenton to represent DFW in this year’s contest. Her official title is Miss DFW USA. She is a Biology student at Texas A&M; University.
The Crystal Group, Inc. also announced the selection of Tahnae Tarkenton to represent North Texas. Her official title is Miss North Texas USA. She is a student of Education and Psychology at the University of Texas.
Both will travel to Laredo today for a week of rehearsals, special events and preliminary competitions culminating in the televised Miss Texas USA pageant on Sunday, July 1. Check local television listings for the time and station.
The contestants are the daughters of Dr. Tim and Kay Tarkenton of Mineral Wells.
The four-time Emmy Award-winning Miss Texas USA pageant will be televised locally in all Texas TV markets and is an official preliminary to Miss USA, which is jointly owned by Donald J. Trump and NBC.
In addition to taking home an array of prizes that includes a new Ford Mustang, gold and diamond jewelry, and a trip to the Riviera Maya, Mexico, the winner will bear the title of Miss Texas USA for one year, traveling, meeting dignitaries, participating in official charity and social events and representing pageant sponsors. In the spring of 2008, Miss Texas USA will compete with outstanding young women from across the nation at the Miss USA pageant to be televised live on NBC.
