Clark Gardens Botanical Park's June live music series culminates with “Sunsets in the Park” this evening and Sunday evening, giving citizens two more chances to enjoy tunes, art and sunsets – and Sunday with their dog.

“The music has been awesome and we've had beautiful sunsets,” said General Manager Carol Clark Montgomery. “David Adams of Adams Optical deserves credit and kudos for arranging all the musicians as a park volunteer.”

Featured tonight, beginning at 6 p.m., the park will present three acts. Today, tickets are two-for-one, noted

See Montgomery. She said there are many local artists performing tonight, including “our very own locals, Stan Crawford and Snuff Garrett.”

In addition to Garrett and Crawford, No Class Trio will perform tonight.

On Sunday, the series culminates with the celebration of “The Dog Days of Summer,” featuring: Spencer Garland; Jimmy Baldwin and Glenna Bell; Morning Elephant; and Salim Nourallah and Chris Holt.

“Dog Days of Summer is a celebration for people and their best canine friends,” said Montgomery. She suggests people bring their dogs if they are well-behaved in a crowd and socialized with other dogs. All dogs must be on a leash.

“We'll have fresh water available for your pet and family, and dog-friendly movies like 'Old Yeller' and 'The Incredible Journey' in the Chapel for those who need to cool off with their canines,” she added.

In addition to music, Montgomery said there will be food and beverage vendors or visitors can bring their own picnic and beverage and enjoy the park and its sounds.

“We'll have Doug McKellar and his chuckwagon on Sunday,” said Montgomery. “Doug will be grilling hamburgers, hotdogs and barbeque.” She said they will also have a vendor who makes special dog treats.

Along with the month's musical celebration, Clark Gardens continues through this weekend to display the art of eight sculptors – Ron Hall, Kelly Graham, Rick Jackson, Mike Wells, Garland Weeks, Dan Pogue, Gregory Beck and Darrell Davis.

The little tornado that blew through the area less than two weeks ago has not interrupted park events. This week's concerts will play rain or shine. In case of rain, concerts will take place under a large tent. Bring a lawn chair, blanket or something to sit on.

Tickets are $12 for adults in advance (or $15 at the gate) – two-for-one tonight – and $8 for children ages 11-15 in advance (or $10 at the gate). Children ages 10 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at www.clarkgardens.com/sunsetspay.htm.
