A Palo Pinto County Grand Jury returned 17 indictments Wednesday on 16 individuals, including an indictment for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
If Erlindo Perez Jr., 27, of Mineral Wells, is convicted of the charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, he faces a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison, according to District Attorney Mike Burns.
“It's a particularly serious matter … [unofficially] we call [the charge] 'super' aggravated sexual assault of a child,” Burns said. “The reason it's more serious … we have alleged serious bodily injury to the girl.”
Perez was arrested April 26 on a warrant after police were called to a residence in Mineral Wells that morning where the 12-year-old girl had spent the night.
Timothy Robert Hoskins, 44, of Mineral Wells, was indicted on two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, second degree felonies.
Sheriff Ira Mercer told the Index in January that the Hoskins was arrested in the county after two boys made outcries.
Justin Carl Hightower and Randy Gene Hightower were indicted for theft of property, more than $1,500, less than $20,000 for allegedly stealing a personal watercraft at Possum Kingdom Lake.
