Chase ends in arrest

From Staff Reports
A high speed chase through the south end of Mineral Wells involving a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon ended with an arrest, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Sgt. Jason Dudley.

Dudley said he attempted to pull over a 1998 Suzuki motorcycle for a traffic violation while he was on patrol in the area of Municipal Highway 379 and Old Millsap Highway.

The individual then allegedly fled eastbound on MH 379 and north on Farm-to-Market Road 1195, according to Dudley.

Dudley estimated that the motorcycle and his patrol unit were going 115 to 120 mph the majority of the chase.

“He attempted to go around the bridge [that partially collapsed Monday afternoon and is currently closed] and his vehicle became disabled in the mud,” Dudley said.

The man then reportedly fled on foot in the northwest direction, going through Centron’s parking lot, jumping the fence and going through brush before he was apprehended, Dudley said.

“He said he didn’t have a driver’s license,” Dudley said.

His license expired in 1996, according to Dudley.

Dewayne Edward Farr, 39, of Mineral Wells, will be charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, a state jail felony, Dudley said, and also reportedly has outstanding traffic-related warrants in the county and city.
