A Weatherford man was arrested in Mineral Wells Sunday morning after reportedly striking two telephone poles and a street sign.
According to police reports, Harlin Russell Jessup, 21, was traveling eastbound in the 600 block of S.W. 1st Street at 11:50 p.m. Saturday night when he reportedly lost control of his 1990 GMC pickup and struck the first telephone pole.
Police reported that Jessup continued eastbound, struck a road sign and collided with a second telephone pole.
Police officials said that when Jessup was confronted by the officer, he stated that his name was Clark Bryson.
According to the wreck report, the vehicle traveled 528 feet from the initial impact point; failure to control speed was listed on the report as a contributing factor. The value of the damaged telephone poles was listed as $4,500.
Jessup was arrested at 12:10 a.m. Sunday for failure to identify and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility. Officials reported that Jessup was searched at the city jail and a blue pill bottle was found in his pocket. It reportedly contained two baggies containing what officials suspected is crystal methamphetamine.
