Two women reportedly stabbed
From Staff Reports
Two women were reportedly attacked by a knife-wielding man north of Mineral Wells over the weekend.
One woman was reportedly cut across her throat, while the other woman was reportedly stabbed in a leg.
The incident is being investigated by the Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office. Information about the reported attack could not be obtained Monday.
Two Ohio men arrested, one shocked
A disturbance Sunday at a motel in the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 180 West led to the arrests of two men from Ohio, according to Mineral Wells police.
The two men and a woman, who reportedly arrived in town by bus and decided to stay, began arguing, according to a police report. Willie Ray Glover, 51, of Cleveland, Ohio, allegedly brandished a box cutter and threatened to kill the woman. Police said Mark McCaulley, 36, also of Cleveland, intervened and the men then argued.
Police were called and arrested both men. Glover and McCaulley were each charged with making terroristic threats.
Police said at city jail during processing, Glover struggled with officers as they tried to remove jewelry and jackets he was wearing. Lt. Brad Belz said an officer removed the cartridge from his Taser stun gun and “dry shocked” Glover – meaning the gun’s electronic prongs were not actually fired into Glover. The electrical charge delivered allowed officers to gain control of Glover. He was additionally charged with resisting arrest.
Domestic disturbance leads to arrest
Police said several calls were made over the New Year’s holiday period to a residence in the 1500 block of S.W. 5th Avenue for a man and woman arguing.
A third call just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, New Year’s Day, involved a man allegedly assaulting two women. The man reportedly left the residence and was later found walking in the 1600 block of S.W. 2nd Avenue. Miles Laurin Hester, 43, of Mineral Wells, was arrested and charged with public intoxication. He was released Friday after serving out his time for the offense at city jail.
The women were not injured and they declined to press further charges, according to police.
Burglaries
• 600 block of FM 1821 North – someone thought leaving their 1992 Chevrolet pickup in the Wal-Mart parking lot while they left town for a couple of days was a good idea. The truck’s door locks don’t work, and they told police they figured no one would steal anything from it since that is a high-traffic area. They were wrong. They returned Friday to find two 12-inch subwoofers and a Jensen 400-watt amplifier taken, at a reported loss of $500.
• 800 block of S.E. 7th Avenue – Burglary of a vehicle was reported. Taken from the 1998 Mercury Mystique sometime between Dec. 19 and Friday was a stereo/CD player valued at $300. The car was reportedly left unlocked while parked behind a residence.
