Happy II is this week’s Pet of the Week. She is small in stature, but big in heart and love for kind people. Although she might seem shy at first, once she hears someone call her, well, one can see from the photo how she responds. Happy is thought to be part Bassett Hound and Heinz 57, but she is the size of a Corgi. Happy has the gentle, non-confrontational nature of a Bassett and gets along with non-aggressive dogs. She bonds quickly to people she meets, following them around and resting quietly at their feet.
Happy is estimated to be close to 2-years old and is not spayed. To adopt her, or any of a number of dogs and cats at the Mineral Wells Animal Shelter, call (940) 328-7752. The adoption fee includes spaying and a rabies shot.
Shelter staff report that the majority of animals come through the front door, as owner releases, and are not picked up off the street. There are currently 14 dogs available, including Happy II, this week’s Index “Pet of the Week.”
For the month of July, 177 animals came in and of those, 30 were adopted and 12 returned to their owners.
