Mineral Wells resident Gerald Warfield, who has had success as both a writer and composer, will be among those honored at a ceremony in Hollywood this April.

Warfield said he specializes in speculative fiction, which includes fantasy, science fiction and horror, though he focuses primarily on the two former categories.

After a science fiction short story he submitted to an international contest was selected as the second-place winner for the first quarter of 2011, Warfield received an expenses-payed trip to Los Angeles along with a share of the prize money.
