Turnout high for first week of early voting

More than 10 percent of the county’s registered voters have cast early ballots ahead of the Nov. 6 election.

According to the Palo Pinto County Elections Office, after Friday 2,154 early ballots were cast, totaling 12 percent of the county’s 17,239 registered voters.

Early voting took place Saturday at the county annex building in downtown Mineral Wells on Saturday, and special early voting hours are 1:30-4 p.m. today at the main courthouse in Palo Pinto.

Early voting ends Friday. Regular hours Monday-Friday are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the main courthouse and courthouse annex. Voting will be extended until 8 p.m. at the Mineral Wells downtown annex on Tuesday and Thursday.

Also, Tuesday is the last day to apply for a ballot by mail.
