Mineral Wells Index staff writers Chris Agee and Libby Cluett pose with the first place Texas Press Association award for news writing won by the paper in TPA's '2012 Better Newspaper Contest.' The Index competed in the dailies under 7,000 circulation division. The award was for a story by Agee about State Sen. Craig Estes' attempts to regulate air boats on a portion of the Brazos River and for an article by Cluett that took an in depth look at the impact on education funding and budget cuts. The Index also placed in headline writing, page design and overall excellence categories.
