The Happy Feet Foot Care and Grooming, scheduled for Friday the 10th, has been put back one more week on the calendar of activities. Those old feet that are in the habit of getting tickled on the first Friday morning of each month will be disappointed for one more week, until the 17th.
I am not sure, but probably the reservation you made for the 3rd of July will still be good for the 17th. Just to be sure, call the center and take whatever steps are necessary to get your name on the current list. IntegraCare is the sponsor of this relaxing and rejuvenating feature at the center each month. While you are securing your reservation, you might want to slip in an “I thank you” and a couple of “aahhs” to express your appreciation. You feet will be happy about that.
It may be too late to get an appointment to see Patricia Pilgrim, RN, for acupressure therapy for the 10th (Friday), but not for the next session on the 24th. Nurse Pilgrim will offer her services from 10 a.m. to noon on those two Fridays. Call 325-6470 to make the list.
The Silver Notes are still doing their thing, and doing it quite well, every Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. After the exhilarating Silver Sneakers exercise program at 9 a.m., just go over to the singers’ chairs and take a seat. After all that deep breathing, the voices should ring out! Take a seat in any section, just be sure that if you sing high notes you don’t sit in the bass section, and vice versa. If you sing off key, almost any section is dangerous, so just size up the group and sing loud! Seriously, the Silver Notes bring joy and inspiration to the center every Monday morning with their gospel sing-along from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Come join them.
The “keeping fit” chair exercise has been listed for July on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. No matter your physical condition, this activity is doable, fun and good for you. And on Tuesday the 14th, you can see just how beneficial it is when you go over to the Health Check area and have your blood pressure, weight and all that other important stuff checked. All that may make you want to move a mountain! This service is one of the oldest, and probably near the most important of those offered by the center. Mineral Wells Medical Supply and Palo Pinto Home Health folks have been doing this for us for many years and are to be commended for their faithfulness to our community.
The Red Hat Ladies will meet on the 16th, Thursday, before lunch, to go to Juanita Farmer’s home. Be sure to confirm this date, time and place before next week.
Every day, after lunch, “game time” fills the center’s tables. Almost any game known to man – and woman – will be played from 1 p.m., until closing time. Emphasis so far has been on cards, dominoes and shuffleboard. No special expertise is required for enjoyment of the games.
Other activities throughout the week include crafts, line dancing (Thursdays), Bingo on Wednesday, followed by the Gilly’s Singing and Swinging. If you can’t find something to do that is fun and beneficial, then tell us and we will see that your favorite activity is added to our schedule.
