The Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers continue to investigate a reported shooting Friday night in the Fortune Bend area of the Brazos River.

According the sheriff’s office, complainants reported they were traveling in an air boat on the Brazos River during the late evening when an individual on the river bottom allegedly discharged a firearm in the direction of the boat.

The sheriff’s office received a 911 call about 9 p.m.

The witnesses in the boat were interviewed, according to the sheriff’s office, and more interviews are expected over the next several days.

The Index has confirmed that a Possum Kingdom area business man was one of the individuals on the boat.

“I reviewed the initial investigation by the sheriff’s office,” Palo Pinto County District Attorney Mike Burns said.

He requested additional steps to be taken and is awaiting the results of that investigation, Burns said.
