A county-wide initiative established in May to offer aid during emergencies will offer a training program Saturday for individuals interested in joining the team.
According to Disaster Relief Team Coordinator Cindy Maness, the program initially began as an offshoot of a Texas Baptist Men campaign called Yellow Cap Training, which she said several locals previously attended.
“After discussing the needs in our county, it was decided that the DRT would be a dual relief team – one for the county and one for the TBM,” she said.
Through its Baptist roots, Maness said the team will focus on “coordinating, resourcing, responding in times of crisis [or] disaster, proclaiming hope through Jesus Christ.”
