Engagement: Lacie Lane Ritchie and Matthew Alan Austin

Mineral Wells Index

Mr. Richard P. Ritchie of Mineral Wells and Mrs. Pamela Merker of Fort Worth are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lacie Lane Ritchie, to Matthew Alan Austin. Matthew is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Alan Austin of Columbus, OH.

The future bride graduated from Texas Tech University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management.  

The future groom is a captain in the United States Air Force and an F-16 fighter pilot currently on deployment in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. The couple will reside in Columbia, SC, as the future groom’s home base is Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC.

The couple met at Possum Kingdom Lake while the future groom was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. A June 2013 wedding is planned in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, at Secrets Maroma Beach resort.

  • Reflections on Neighborhood Watch and Solicitations

    A couple of things happened that encouraged me to write this particular column. First of all, our neighborhood formed a Neighborhood Watch group. This is being encouraged by Chief of Police Dean Sullivan and supported by the Mineral Wells Police Department. As we have had one home invasion in our neighborhood (burglars broke in while the neighbors were asleep in bed), we really want to watch out for each other!
