Gerald Warfield, of Mineral Wells, with his story, “The Poly Islands,” joins the ranks of published authors with the just-released L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Vol. 28, which is available in bookstores as well as Amazon.com.
Warfield was one of 12 writers chosen as a winner in the Writers of the Future contest ,which is in its 28th year. Winners came from as far away as Australia, Taiwan, Sweden, Canada as well as the United States and were presented with Combined Cash Prizes and Royalties of over $30,000.
Warfield, along with his fellow awardees, was honored earlier this year at the L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards Event at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Hollywood, California, an Oscar-style, red-carpet, black-tie event with more than 1,000 people in attendance. The video of the event can be viewed here at www.WritersOfTheFuture.com.
Warfield will conduct a book signing in Fort Worth at the Barnes & Noble, Downtown Sundance Square, 401 Commerce St., on Saturday, Aug. 4, beginning at 3 p.m.

Reflections on Neighborhood Watch and Solicitations

This is being encouraged by Chief of Police Dean Sullivan and supported by the Mineral Wells Police Department. As we have had one home invasion in our neighborhood (burglars broke in while the neighbors were asleep in bed), we really want to watch out for each other!
