Newt Schroeder would like to announce the birth of his baby brother Jake Dawson Schroeder.
Jake was born on Jan. 29, 2013, at 4:04 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 15.9 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.
Proud parents are Dustin and Jennifer Schroeder. Thank you to all of our family and friends for their love and support during this past month that Baby Jake has been here.

Local artist recognized at state convention
On Saturday, April 20, at the State Convention for Porcelain Painters, held in San Antonio at the Hilton San Antonio Hill Country Hotel & Spa, our very own local artist, Allene Coupland, was presented with a plaque as an Honored Member of the Texas Federation.

V.E. and Barbara Del Rio were married March 23, 1963, and celebrated 50 years of marriage this past March.

A couple of things happened that encouraged me to write this particular column. First of all, our neighborhood formed a Neighborhood Watch group. This is being encouraged by Chief of Police Dean Sullivan and supported by the Mineral Wells Police Department. As we have had one home invasion in our neighborhood (burglars broke in while the neighbors were asleep in bed), we really want to watch out for each other!
With the first day of Spring (March 20) officially past, things in this part of the country are busier than ever. One thing that quite a few of our citizens have become interested and involved in is the Adopt A County Road Litter Removal Program.
The Perrin Baptist Church will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Wednesday, March 27, following the Wednesday meal.
