Chief Master Sergeant Ronnie G. Barham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barham, of Mineral Wells, retired from the Air Force Reserve on June 2 after a 33-year career.
Chief Barham grew up in Mineral Wells and joined the Air Force in 1978. He spent six years on active duty at locations in South Dakota, Aleutian Islands in Alaska and Oklahoma. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 1985 at NAS Fort Worth and served on numerous deployments to Central America and Europe on construction projects.
He achieved the rank of E-9 and was the chief enlisted manager for the 301st Civil Engineer Squadron for 12 years. He was deployed three times to combat zones in the Middle East. His last deployed position was the Chief Enlisted Manager, 506th Air Expeditionary Group, Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq. His extraordinary ability to promote a joint working environment with the command sergeants major of the United States Army 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division, 6th Cavalry Regiment created an unprecedented level of cooperation between Army and Air Force missions on the base.
Chief Barham is married to former Mineral Wells resident Marianna West, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne West. They live in Burleson, Texas, and have three sons, Brandon, Jordan and Todd and his wife, Krystal, and son, Noah.

Reflections on Neighborhood Watch and Solicitations
A couple of things happened that encouraged me to write this particular column. First of all, our neighborhood formed a Neighborhood Watch group. This is being encouraged by Chief of Police Dean Sullivan and supported by the Mineral Wells Police Department. As we have had one home invasion in our neighborhood (burglars broke in while the neighbors were asleep in bed), we really want to watch out for each other!
