James and Dianne Ellis, of Santo, were married Feb. 1, 1963, at Harris Memorial Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary with a meal at Papadeaux’s Restaurant in Fort Worth, on Feb. 1.

They first met June 29, 1962, at a church ‘sing song’ in Lytton Springs, Texas, where Dianne played the piano and James led the singing.

Dianne was a clerk typist at the State Board of Cosmetology and James was a Junior at the University of Texas. Dianne continued to work off and on as a ‘Girl Friday’ and as a wife and mom, while James plied his trade as a computer consultant. They and their children were privileged to live and work at various locations around the world, such as Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, London, England, and Dusseldorf, Germany.

James and Dianne retired (more or less) in 2008 and settled into a busy life of Masonic Order of the Eastern Star and church work, with James still singing in the choir and Dianne playing the piano and organ.

On March 2, at 2 p.m., they will be feted at a celebration orchestrated by their children and grandchildren. It will be at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Santo. Organizing the event are: daughter, Teresa, and spouse, Alex Polozoff; son, Chris, and spouse, Pam Ellis; and grandchildren, Jeanille Polozoff, Morgan Gilbreath, Brooklyn Ellis and Devlon Ellis.

Reflections on Neighborhood Watch and Solicitations
A couple of things happened that encouraged me to write this particular column. First of all, our neighborhood formed a Neighborhood Watch group. This is being encouraged by Chief of Police Dean Sullivan and supported by the Mineral Wells Police Department. As we have had one home invasion in our neighborhood (burglars broke in while the neighbors were asleep in bed), we really want to watch out for each other!
