Mr. Juan Ruiz and Ms. Ninfa Rodriguez Ruiz, of Mineral Wells, are pleased to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Mercedes Ruiz, to Forrest Macon Deviney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Deviney, of Austin, Texas.

Mercedes is a 2009 graduate of Mineral Wells High School. She will receive her Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Texas A&M University, in Corpus Christi, in 2013, and plans to attend Dallas Theological Seminary for her Master of Arts in Cross-Cultural Ministry.

Forrest is a 2010 graduate of Cedar Park High School. He will receive his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Texas A&M University, in Corpus Christi. He plans to attend Perkins School of Theology for his Masters of Divinity.

The couple plans to exchange vows on June 2013, in Driftwood, Texas, and will reside in Dallas.

• Reflections on Neighborhood Watch and Solicitations

  A couple of things happened that encouraged me to write this particular column. First of all, our neighborhood formed a Neighborhood Watch group. This is being encouraged by Chief of Police Dean Sullivan and supported by the Mineral Wells Police Department. As we have had one home invasion in our neighborhood (burglars broke in while the neighbors were asleep in bed), we really want to watch out for each other!
