Social media such as the ever-popular Facebook and Twitter have taken the world by storm. Many adults and most children have become constant users of this technology tool. Social media can enhance our lives by allowing us to connect in meaningful ways with our friends, family, and people around the world. But for kids with little life experience, social media can also be a confusing and harsh place filled with drama, cyberbullying, and profanity.
Please join us as we provide important information and open a discussion about kids using various forms of social media, including Facebook, texting, and online gaming communities. Why is social media so important to teenagers? What opportunities and advantages do using social media provide to kids? What are some of the pitfalls and problems that students encounter while interacting online? How can parents help their kids use social media responsibly? Join us and find out.
Please bring your smart phone —we’re going to use them.
