  • Max Grider played the National Anthem on guitar at the Mineral Wells Junior High Academic Awards Assembly. The junior high choir and band performed several numbers each. Both groups received sweepstakes at UIL contests. The choir is directed by Abigail Weaver, and the band is directed by Marilyn Burgess. Congratulations were given to these two groups. Bata Boyd/MWJH

  • Stephanie Nance presented MWJH cheerleaders roses to during the Mineral Wells Junior High Academic Awards Assembly to show her appreciation for their hard work and dedication this year. The cheerleaders are Makayla Cantu, Katlin Norton, Taylor Otwell, Lainey Roberts, Sophia Romulo, Sydney Fewell, Talley Goldston, Sami Hickey, Brooklyn Lovern, Michaela Mendoza and Kelsey Keaton.   • Jacki Bandy, Destination ImagiNation sponsor, introduced the DI teams during the Mineral Wells Junior High Academic Awards Assembly. Bandy told the group how proud she was of these students. Their names are Angelica Antonio, Elliot Burns-Hudson, Caroline Clarke, Zach Elder, Sydney Fewell, Mirella Frutos, Nohely Garcia, Max Grider, Alana Holly, Kenzi Huseman, Lara Jones, Melody Jordan, Kassidy Morgan, Maxi Schultz, Kelsey Shirley, Holly Stevens, Ryan West and Max Whaley.   • You Make My Day Award The faculty each six weeks chooses two students for the ‘You Make My Day Award.’ This award goes to students who go out of their way to make other people know that someone cares. This six weeks the awards go to Ashley Rodriquez (seventh grader) and Taysia Floods (eighth grader). Ashley’s teachers stated that she was a hard worker who always tries to do her best. She is always helpful to others, students and teachers alike. Taysia’s teachers loved her positive attitude. She comes to class with a smile on her face, and she is kind and consider to others. Mr. Walsworth presented Ashley Rodriquez’s brother the ‘You Make My Day’ Award in her absence. Taysia Floods was also absent. Bata Boyd/MWJH

MWJH celebrates year's last awards assembly

Mineral Wells Index

On April 3, Mineral Wells Junior High School parents, friends, faculty and students celebrated the last awards assembly of this school year. The old gym was again filled with those who wanted to honor the students receiving honor roll recognition for the fourth six weeks.

MWJH Principal Jay Walsworth welcomed all those in attendance, stating how proud he was of our students.

There were 213 students eligible to be honored. Ninety-four were seventh graders. Of that number 41 were enrolled in Pre-AP classes. Twenty-one seventh graders made 95 and above.
