Houston Elementary is promoting the notion during the week that “Reading is out of this world.”
The program includes a fall book fair, which goes on during school hours and 5-9 p.m. Thursday night – literacy night for all second and third graders and their parents.
Students are encouraged to come to school Thursday and to the Literacy Night program dressed as their favorite storybook character and bring the book that their costume matches.
In addition to book-fair shopping, kids can win free books in a book walk, participate in fun book activities with their favorite teachers and eat yummy snacks at Literacy Night.
The book fair features books on fossils, dinosaurs and prehistoric times. In addition Houston will have dinosaur models to purchase through noon on Friday.
