MILLSAP – Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
At Soda Springs, the Baptist Church graciously hosted a community Thanksgiving dinner on the evening of Nov. 22, with the men cooking the turkey and dressing. Ladies provided the side dishes and desserts. About 80 people enjoyed lots of good visiting and a very bountiful feast. The church also invites everyone to their Fifth Sunday Singing on Nov. 29. It will begin at 6 p.m., with visitors from area churches participating.
The Home and Garden Club will have its monthly meeting at the Community Center on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The ladies begin arriving about 10 a.m. for visitation. A covered dish luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m., with business and a program following. Everyone is welcome. The club will be busy this month preparing and delivering goody bags to many of the elderly and shut-ins of the area.
Pat Clark recently returned from a vacation in England. She found the hospitality amazing and very old-fashioned. She thought it was neat that tea really is served everywhere there, but only in china cups. She enjoyed it all immensely, and said it was a highlight of her life.
Congratulations to Sarah Coleman on her recent graduation from Tarleton State University. She earned her degree with honors, and her profession will be teaching. Proud grandfather is James Chipman.
Congratulations to Jerry and Janice Johnston, who will be celebrating 50 years of marriage on Dec. 12 at the Palo Pinto ISD Gym. The event, hosted by their children, is come-and-go from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This couple, who now make their home at PK, were an integral part of the school system and community for many years. They invite all of their friends and former students to come and celebrate with them.
Household tip: To ease squeaky floor boards, put grated chalk or talcum powder between them.
