PERRIN –At the Perrin school library last Monday evening there was an open meeting for the proposed transmission line project presented by Oncor. They presented information to help understand the proposed project and routing process with agents available for any questions.
This proposal is to connect Texas with wind generation. Oncor is proposing to build more than 850 miles of new transmission lines that will allow the state to more than double its wind energy. They showed alternate routes for the project. There were a lot of interested people of the community who attended the meeting.
Hadn’t spoken with Bernice Farmer since she came home from the hospital. We had a nice phone “visit” the other day and she is doing good. Has dismissed her home health girls and is now doing for herself. She had quadruple bypass surgery a couple of months ago. Glad she is doing so well.
My oldest great granddaughter, Jo Ann Renfro, celebrated her fifth birthday with a gathering of friends and family at the Pizza Hut. She celebrated again on the 24th, her actual birthday. The two little sisters, Heather and Rebecca, joined her and she was heartbroken when I told her I am not able to walk and be out at night, so I begged off.
Seemed someone was looking at me this morning, it was a cute little lizard-type fellow about two inches long including his tail, big eyes staring at me. I talked to him and wished I could get him outside, and wondered how he got in. He just sat and watched me. Just sticking out of the water heater closet and when I went back to check on him, he was gone. I keep thinking he will grow up and be big. Later found him in the hallway and he just sat and looked at me. I knew I could pick him up but wanted to be sure. I asked Derek Alan to pick him up and he did and put him in a little plastic bucket and covered it with a paper towel. This morning I took him out on the front porch and sat down on the step, removed the towel and he was on my hand. I let him loose on my leg and he ran around on me. I never saw him again, hope he is outside.
Talked with Ina Jo Lee who is home following her surgery, she is doing good. Able to take care of herself.
I am doing better each day, not so shaky and walking better. Still bumping into doorways, pretty well bruised up. The nurse weighed me last week at 102 pounds. And I’m eating good.
We got a light sprinkle last Saturday, about one-quarter inch, which was nice.
We have “secret grandchildren” at church. We will have a secret grandparents revealing on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, following the worship service. The grandparents will be the guests and do not need to bring anything for the feast. Should be fun, I’m planning on being there.
Elton and Louise Short have had a bout with coughing and going to the doctor for medicine. They haven’t felt at all well, but seem to be on the better side. Elton brings my mail and anything else I need. I really appreciate them. We wish him a happy birthday on Feb. 2, as well as Becky Fowler.
The February Angel Food box money is due Sunday, Feb. 14. The food order will be delivered on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The February menus are up around the local businesses in Perrin. We got a notice from Angel Food that the boxes will not go up in price, but another item will be added to the box making a total of 17 items for $30, it’s a bargain as well as a blessing. If you haven’t tried it, contact Fred Mealio at (940) 798-4455. Menus are available for download on angelnet.org.
If you have any news either about your family or any other community happenings, give me a call at 798-2235.
