Had a visit from the Advent Christian Church members last week. They brought fruit, candy, nuts, etc. Such a nice bunch of food. I have always had a sack of groceries from them every month, and appreciate it so much.
We also had a visit from Mrs. Self and her pre-K class one day last week. They came in a bus, which Mrs. Self’s husband was driving. Those kids were so cute, so small; they came to the fence and sang Christmas songs. Last year her fifth grade class came, so I was surprised to see pre-K kids. We enjoyed them so much.
Billie Gillespie called me to tell me that she is selling out her stock of Home Interiors and Gifts. The company has gone out of business and she’s selling her inventory at half price or less. Call her at (940) 798-2735 or (940) 452-1242 to see all her stock. From what she said she has a large variety of items at good prices.
The Perrin-Whitt school dismissed for the year Friday. School will resume Monday, Jan. 4. Hope the kids enjoy their long holiday vacation.
I don’t get to see many people. Elton and Louise Short bring my mail every day and do other things for me. They are a great help. I enjoy receiving mail and getting calls, so keep me informed of any community news or family happenings.
So glad to see some warm days. We have had enough bad, cold weather. We have one tree that has just now started loosing its pretty red leaves. We have enjoyed it so much this fall.
My brother-in-law, Claude Renfro, of Weatherford, talks with me most every day. He is doing good, still on a walker. He received a pacemaker because his heart was out of rhythm. He has sons and grandsons staying with him helping him out.
My secret grandchild from up at church sent me a beautiful candle in a red glass vase with silver inside, it was really pretty.

The Perrin FFA Junior Chapter Conducting team went to state competition. The Junior Chapter Conducting team consists of members Forest Francis, Josiah Cansler, Zach Williams, Jadyn Holt, Kelsay Hutton, Tristin Wright and Jake Hall. The contests were at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, on Dec. 4-5. The team placed in state finalist and tied for 14th.
The Perrin-Whitt Elementary canned food drive, which was held before Thanksgiving, was won by some very enthusiastic second graders. The food is to be donated to the local food bank. It was a great success due to the giving spirit of the second grade class as well as other elementary students. The second grade class alone brought in 236 cans. The goal for the elementary was 500 cans and they surpassed this goal. Thank you to all the classes that donated.
Remember to give me any news about visitors over the holidays and if you have any news of upcoming events in the community, we need to get that in the paper as soon as possible. Gve me a call at 798-2235.
