The Santo Volunteer Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department is hoping the county will create a second Emergency Services District. Pictured at work during last October's Shattered Dreams program for Santo ISD, Santo EMS crews “extract” students from a vehicle using the Jaws of Life and other tools. Although this is a mock simulation, Santo responds to scenes like this along Interstate 20 and in the southeastern part of Palo Pinto County, covering up to 228 square miles.
