WEATHERFORD — A roughly $35,000 grant recently awarded to the Parker County Hospital District went a long way toward securing necessary equipment to keep the community and local first responders safe.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded PCHD EMS $34,937, which was used to purchase a Zodiac rescue boat with motor, trailer and accessories, fulfilling a critical need within the department.

“We are grateful to the Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Weatherford for awarding us this grant,” said PCHD CEO Randy Bacus. “By providing our department with the new rescue boat, our first responders will be able to perform swift water rescue and help the people of Parker County during emergency situations.”

Parker County’s grant was part of more than $38 million given by the foundation to support safety across the U.S.
